Government

The power and leadership positions in our time are the lot of ambitious men and power-seekers and even mercenaries (where there can be a good profit!), who did not disdain any means, even the most dishonest to achieve their goals by resorting to false slogans and false promises, and bribery, and in certain cases - the elimination by killing people they do not want standing in their way. Clean-moral principles in the social, political and public life are now in the overwhelming majority of today's "leaders" non-existent, they are recognized as "obsolete", "do not meet the spirit of the time", and therefore "unsuitable for Business Success", "impractical" and even "harmful". Certainly deep thought reveals truly that the so fashionable "democracy" is devoid of ethical foundations, not to mention the "socialism" and "communism", completely rejecting all morality and humans are seen just as one of the species of animals.
— Archbishop Averky (1906-†1976) The World Is Mad

Democratic republic is the form of government for which the founding fathers of USA strove, but which unfortunately has been hijacked by monied elites and Corporate America and greatly eroded through Propaganda tactic of fanatical anti-communism (SeeCorporations). The Civil War (Second American Revolution) was the turning point for turning American citizens into consumers by which the Democratic Republic of the United States has been, and is being brought low.
Lincoln was a corporate lawyer for the railroads. The Republican Party was formed by railroad magnates who craved the creation of a transcontinental railroad that the southern planter stranglehold on Congress was blocking. The Abolition Movement was coopted by The Republican Party for the purpose of destroying the planter economic system of the south so that there could be hegemony of the industrial economic system of the north.
Following this Second American Revolution (aka The Civil War), corruption in US government became rampant in the Grant Administration, the first Republican Party administration. This led to the Gilded Age, the Roaring Twenties, and the Great Depression.
Industrial productivity ramped up during World War II for the “war effort”, the effect of which was the lifting of the US out of economic depression. The rebuilding of Western Europe destroyed by WWII on top of production during the war reaped windfall profits for Corporate America “Daddy Warbucks”, and helped launch globalism as evident today through pursuit by Corporate America of Permanent war economy.

Ralph Nader | Wikipedia
Breaking Through Power: It’s easier than we think.
— “In Breaking Through Power, Nader draws from a lifetime waging—and often winning—David vs. Goliath battles against big corporations and the United States government. In this succinct, Tom Paine-style wake-up call, the iconic consumer advocate highlights the success stories of fellow Americans who organize change and work together to derail the many ways in which wealth manipulates politics, labor, media, the environment and the quality of national life today. Nader makes an inspired case about how the nation can—and must—be democratically managed by communities guided by the U.S. Constitution, not by the dictates of big businesses and the wealthy few. This is classic Ralph Nader, a crystallization of the core political beliefs and commitments that have driven his lifetime of advocacy for greater democracy.”

The Dying Citizen: How Progressive Elites, Tribalism, and Globalization Are Destroying the Idea of AmericaVictor Davis Hanson
— The problem with American “patriotism” and civic, citizenship educational courses (such as the one at Hillsdale College) is that they are corrupted by right wing fanatical anti-communist propaganda arguments that present the U.S. as an infallible ”city on a hill”, good guy in white hat on white horse, do no wrong, godliness that is nothing but a myth. While such descriptions of the U.S. may be appropriate to the time period prior to the Second American Revolution, they certainly are not applicable following the Civil War, or especially post World War II.

Neoliberalism

The Cultural Contradictions of Neoliberalism Important Read!
The Longing for an Alternative Order and the Future of Multiracial Democracy in an Age of Authoritarianism
— “The key tenets of neoliberalism—the focus on the “rational,” self-interested individual as the fundamental unit of social analysis; the idea that free markets are a panacea; a preoccupation with personal responsibility and self-reliance; and the emphasis on an individual’s “freedom to choose”—have shaped and been supported by a range of cultural practices, beliefs, and worldviews. These include “grind culture,” the shaming of those viewed as having failed to succeed in the market, and the ubiquitous, individualistic life strategies, like self-improvement, that people have adopted to try to “make it,” or at least mitigate the risks of failure....

we are living in a landscape of the cultural wreckage brought about by neoliberal policies and ideology...

neoliberalism as a cultural project is increasingly unpersuasive and unsatisfying to many people...

four archetypical cultural figures who have arisen in response to the failures of neoliberalism:
1) strivers, who commonly participate in wellness and self-help culture as a way of both adapting to and finding refuge from the harsh demands of neoliberal society;
2) innovators, who seek and create community-centered arrangements that satisfy desires for the kinds of social connection that are undermined by neoliberalism;
3) dropouts, who withdraw into private worlds, sometimes ones of private pleasures and sometimes ones of privatized despair; and
4) rebels, who solve for the failures of neoliberalism by participating in movements that challenge the established order, sometimes from the Left but more often from the Right.

the Right has been far more strategic and successful in engaging with these four cultural responses to neoliberalism”

Deep State

Why The Deep State Always Wins
— “While the corporate press does its best to create the impression of a “shining city upon a hill” which aims to “spread democracy” and conduct “humanitarian intervention,” a different sort of world power is clearly visible to those who look carefully.
The appalling savagery of radical groups like the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) reflects the appalling savagery of American military incursions. Or perhaps the collective consciousness of the United States has already forgotten over a hundred thousand dead Iraqi civilians and the long trail of drone induced “bug-splats.” Ruthless men like Genghis Khan didn’t vanish into history books. Oh no, they’re still around. Some of them are right here in the good old U.S.A. It’s just that they’ve replaced scepters with hand-tailored suits and have traded thrones for seats on corporate boards.”

Branding Democracy: U.S. Regime Change in Post-Soviet Eastern Europe
A highly mobile and flexible corporate-dominated new informational economy is the foundation of intensified Western marketing and promotional culture across spatial and temporal divides, enabling transnational interests to integrate territories previously beyond their reach. U.S. «democracy promotion» and interventions in the Eastern European «color revolutions» in the early twenty-first century serve as studies of neoliberal state interests in action.

It never happened. Nothing ever happened. Even while it was happening it wasn't happening. It didn't matter. It was of no interest. The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious, remorseless, but very few people have actually talked about them. You have to hand it to America. It has exerised a quite clinical manipulation of power worldwide while masquerading as a force for universal good. It's a brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis.

Edward Curtin

Seeking Truth in a Country of Lies — Edward Curtin 2020
The creation of such inanities as accceptable reality and unacceptable reality is necessary for the self-preservation of the super-state against its greatest danger: understanding on the part of the people as to what is really happening. All factors which contribute to it's burgeoning power are exaggerated. All factors which might reveal its corrosive effect on the nation are concealed. The result is to place the populace in the position of persons living in a house whose windows no longer reveal the outside but on which murals have been painted. Some of the murals are frightening and have the effect of reminding the occupants of the outside menaces against which the paternal war machine is protecting them. Other murals are pleasant to remind them how nice things are inside the house.
But to live like this is to live in A Doll's House. If life has one lesson to teach us, it is that to live in illusion is ultimately disastrous. — Jim Garrison, New Orleans District Attorney 1969 Interview
