Both frugality and Do It Yourself (DIY) are the heart and primary means of The Consumer Resistance™©®. DIY is about being productive instead of consumptive. The American Way (aka The System of Organized crime) feeds on the consumption of the many, whom the American ruling class has transmigrated from citizens to consumers after ownership of production was seized by the few in the aftermath of the Second American Revolution (Civil War), in order to enrich the few at the expense of the many and the natural environment.

America today is spiritually sick with greed having been built on Capitalist selfish profit motive, which has led to the prevalence of obesity and hoarding psychological disorders in a great number of individualistic individual Americans. The System is corrupted to its core at all levels of Government, Politics and Business by individuals whose corrupt criminality interfaces with gangsters and gangs. The former place blame on the latter as “Organized crime” in order to deflect attention from their own participation in the one and same corrupt System. It is Government and Business that provides the organization to such criminal activity, since gangsters and gangs are not all that organized as the research of Michael Woodiwiss shows.

DIY•wiki does not propose to reform Modernity because the corrupt powers that be will not cotton to any reform. Nor is revolution (violence) a solution, despite Thomas Jefferson stating that an American Revolution was needed every generation (20 years) in order to preserve democracy. Violence solves nothing, changes nothing but the form of corruption, only begets more violence, bloodshed, horrors, and destruction, of which there's already been way too much as it is. That’s why the Lord Jesus Christ taught his followers to “turn the other cheek”, “love your enemies”, and “do good to those who spitefully use you”. Revolutionary violence is impractical and counterproductive. There is no way to outgun a System in which Military might (like that of the US military) is complicit with the plutocratic oligarchy, along with Intelligence Agencies.

The System that exploits humanity and the environment claims that it is controlled by Consumer “supply and demand”, by free choice of Consumers to buy or not, thereby lowering prices when demand falls, and raising prices when demand increases, when in fact The System exploits humanity and the environment. The 2020s have especially shown that The System is otherwise, that its claims are nothing but Propaganda.

Therefore, strategy of The Consumer Resistance™©® is to practice guerilla warfare by turning The System (that has been weaponized by design to abuse humanity and the environment) back on itself. Strategy of The Consumer Resistance™©® consists of starving The System by refusing to feed it, refusing to give it the food it desires for its (Economic) growth, Growth, GROWTH! —$MONEY! (Consumption)— and by deflecting and limiting any and all ways (e.g. Advertising, etc.) in which The System seeks to contact, invade privacy, overwhelm, and influence consumers who were once USA citizens until creation of New American Culture, The American Way of Consumerism. In short, The Consumer Resistance™©® is one big Boycott of The System to the greatest extent possible. Of such is Orthodox Christian ascesis (asceticism —fasting, self-denial) and kenosis (self-empyting) for personal spiritual growth unto spiritual maturity in Modern Times. Only by way of such internal spiritual revolution will the Enemy (the one and only enemy of any human), the Father of Lies, be defeated for Eternity by Truth.

The American Way is none other than the way of Capitalism, the profit motive of which, unregulated by altruism or ethics, makes it demonically susceptible to greed, corruption, and cronyism (despite what Ayn Rand and her apostolic groupies say contrariwise). The System is manipulatively and deceitfully marketed as The American Way (Consumerism) so as to superficially wrap itself in the flag of ideals — of liberty, freedom, democracy, human rights, free market enterprise, and national security. The American Way has been given the byline of “The Highest Standard of Living in the World”, which is so high in fact that it is unsustainable, using up more than the US share of Earth's resources at a much higher rate than anywhere else on the planet. Americans alone (without any 1st, 2nd or 3rd world nations included) with only 5% of the world population exploit 24% of the world‘s energy, meaning it would take nearly 5 Earths in order for all Earthlings to live The American Way, yet that is what USA is exporting and bullying all citizens of the world into buying. The average American consumes 2x a Japanese, 6x a Mexican, 13x a Chinese, 31x an Indian, 128x a Bangladeshi, 307x a Tanzanian, 370x an Ethiopian.

Why Resistance?

Like bugs that develop resistance to chemicals used to try and eradicate them, consumers need to develop resistance to The System (The American Way) that exploits them (and their environment) so as not to aid, abet, or participate in their own exploitation and destruction as much as possible.

Resistance movements during WWII fought undercover against fascist exploiters. Today, The Consumer Resistance™©® is needed to fight against the corrupt Criminal, Corporate Capitalist Consumer System which exploits Humanity and the Environment, threatening to destroy them both.

The System of corruption is The American Way because —

1) USA had a Second American Revolution (Civil War) in which industrial monied powers of the North squashed agrarian monied powers (planters) of the South, thereby instituting a New American Culture of consumerism like nowhere else in the world,

2) USA exited World War I and World War II unscathed to become the industrial global superpower, that continues to hold liberal economic hegemony over the world today,

3) USA is the largest Consumer market in the world, with the largest Military in the world (and in human history), which itself is a huge consumer market (foreign military bases are like small cities that boost economies of foreign nations),

4) USA is a leader of Technological innovation by way of US Military, taxpayer funded RAND corporation research and development, R&D from which many to most Technological Consumer products are created, and because

5) American products, especially entertainment (Movies and Music) are distributed worldwide and have become a source of foreign emulation of The American Way in nations that have been westernized or that are westernizing.
