Totalitarianism | Wikipedia

Right-wing conspiracism formerly consisted of finger pointing at the left and crying “creeping socialism”, now it's “creeping fascism”, which is ironic because fascism is a right-wing phenomenon, not left.
US conservatives love to warn of creeping fascism. Do they understand what it is?
The modern Republican party is hurtling towards fascism

When the Whole World Goes Mad: Mattias Desmet’s The Psychology of Totalitarianism
The moment Arendt had anticipated in 1951 seems to be rapidly approaching: the emergence of a new totalitarian system led, not by ‘ring leaders’ like Stalin and Hitler, but by dull bureaucrats and technocrats.

Taking the Risk Out of Democracy: Corporate Propaganda versus Freedom and Liberty (Scribd.com download)
The twentieth century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy. (p. 18)
It remains, as ever, an axiom of conventional wisdom that the use of propaganda as a means of social and ideological control is distinctive of totalitarian regimes. Yet the most minimal exercise of common sense would suggest a different view: that propaganda is likely to play at least as important a part in democratic societies (where the existing distribution of power and privilege is vulnerable to quite limited changes in popular opinion) as in authoritarian societies (where it is not). It is arguable that the success of business propaganda in persuading us, for so long, that we are free from propaganda is one of the most significant propaganda achievements of the twentieth century. Growing nowhere: Pinocchio subverted in Spielberg's A.I. Artificial Intelligence
“[P]aternalistic totalitarianism treats everyone as if they were children and treats children as chattel.”

Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
— Jeremiah 51:7

Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. — Revelation 18
